Family Assistant Terms of Service

These Terms of Service apply to Family Assistant, a household organization app from Ryan Shade.
By using Family Assistant, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Family Assistant.

What Family Assistant Does
Family Assistant helps households organize shared information, including groceries, tasks, events, reminders, notes, memories, and household activity. The app also includes assistant features, voice transcription, Smart AI, calendar integrations, and push notifications where available.
Accounts and Sign-In
Family Assistant uses Firebase Authentication.
The current app supports:
- Sign in with Apple on iOS.
- Sign in with Google on Android.
You are responsible for maintaining access to and security of the Apple or Google account you use to sign in. You are responsible for activity that happens through your Family Assistant account or household access.
Household Memberships and Shared Content
Family Assistant is designed around shared household workspaces.
Household owners and members may create, view, edit, complete, cancel, assign, or delete shared household content depending on their role and app permissions. Shared household content may include groceries, tasks, events, reminders, notes, memories, activity records, member names, and other household details.
When you add information to a household, other household members may be able to see and use it. Do not add information to a household unless you have the right to share it and are comfortable with other household members seeing it.
Household Owners
Household owners can manage certain household settings and owner actions. If an owner wants to delete their account, the app may require ownership transfer or member removal first. A sole owner and sole member must explicitly confirm household deletion before that household and its household-scoped data are deleted.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse Family Assistant. You may not:
- use the app to violate the law or someone else's rights;
- try to access a household you are not authorized to access;
- share invite codes with people who should not have household access;
- interfere with the app, Firebase services, OpenAI processing, Expo Notifications, Apple services, Google services, or related systems;
- submit harmful, abusive, illegal, or infringing content;
- attempt to reverse engineer, attack, overload, or bypass app security or usage limits.
AI, Voice, Calendar, Reminders, and Notifications
Family Assistant may use AI and transcription services to process assistant requests. These features are provided to help with household organization, but they are not guaranteed to be accurate or available.
You understand that:
- Smart AI may misunderstand or misclassify a request;
- voice transcription may be inaccurate;
- assistant actions may create, edit, retrieve, or fail to process household content incorrectly;
- reminders and notifications may be delayed, not delivered, duplicated, or wrong;
- calendar integrations may fail, lose permission, or behave differently across platforms and providers.
You are responsible for reviewing important information. Do not rely on Family Assistant for emergencies, medical decisions, legal decisions, financial decisions, childcare safety, or other critical situations.
Usage Allowances
Family Assistant tracks household usage allowances for features such as Smart AI and voice transcription. The current implementation stores monthly usage counters and reset times on household records.
Some features may be limited by plan, monthly allowance, platform availability, sign-in state, household state, device permissions, or external provider availability.
Third-Party Services
Family Assistant depends on third-party services, including Firebase, Expo, Apple, Google, and OpenAI. Their availability and behavior can affect Family Assistant. Family Assistant is not responsible for third-party service outages, provider account problems, permission changes, or API changes.
Privacy
The Family Assistant Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes and how it is used. It is available at:

Account Deletion
You can delete your Family Assistant account in the app:
Household -> Account -> Delete account
Users who cannot access the app may email familyassistant.app@gmail.com to request deletion help. Identity verification may be required. Emailing does not automatically delete the account.

Changes to Family Assistant
Family Assistant may change over time. Features may be added, changed, limited, suspended, or removed. The app may depend on platform permissions, app store requirements, and third-party provider services.
No Warranty
Family Assistant is provided as is and as available. To the extent allowed by law, Ryan Shade does not make warranties that Family Assistant will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, error-free, or available on every device or platform.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent allowed by law, Ryan Shade is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost access, missed reminders, missed notifications, incorrect AI or transcription results, household disputes, or third-party service issues arising from use of Family Assistant.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these terms may not apply.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer protections that apply under the laws of the country where you normally reside.
